Meaning of this name is unknown.

Roald Andor Anthun says: Everybody born Anthun or Antun probably are related and come from the 3 farms named Antun in Osteroey, Norway (own genealogical research). The name probably has its origin in the male name Arngeir, and has developed from Arngeirtun (the home of Arngeir) via Angertun to Antun. Local people now often say Antu. Arngeir according to a legend was an outlaw who settled at the place, and also made a path or track down the hillside which he could use to flee from lawmen. The track has the name Angerstien (the Anger track). Source: Bygdebok for Gjerstad, Haus, Hordaland, Norway. It should be mentioned that two towns in Spain are named Antun, but I have never heard about people born there who had this name.
