Arekion says: Most name Arekion/ Arekium/Arokium originated near Pondichery in India and they all came from a place call Arikamedu near mount Arikan which was an important trading port in Ancient India during the Cholas Empire. They were skilled builders and very good at working with rocks, jewelleries and fishing because they come from a long tradition. During the French attempt to colonise the South India, 'Pondichery' or 'Pudicheri', a lots of skilled migrants from Pondichery got lured to go and 'work' in Mauritius. Two cousins left their village, One of them was a pandit, and went to Mauritius as 'skilled migrants' but never really get paid. One had a very young wife. Their family names were slighly modified so that it sound more French because of the human traffic of those days and they were pressured to convert to catholism. From Mauritus, they had children and grand children and stayed in Mauritius for about two generation before starting to migrate to several countries across the world.
