Linde Barrera says: In 1970 while I was a student at Plattsburgh State College, I found a French language dictionary of surnames and my maiden name “Bringe” was listed! I write down what it said under “Bringe” and took it to a French professor for translation. He told me the name “Bringe” was a nickname meaning “speckled or spotted like a bird” and it came from the Alsace-Lorraine area which has been both French and German over the centuries!
Linde Bringe Barrera says: Hi, I live in the state of NY and when I was a student at Plattsburgh State University College, I found the name “Bringe” in a French dictionary. I wrote down what was printed and asked a French professor to translate it for me. According to that dictionary the name “Bringe” means “speckled or spotted like a bird.” Therefore, that means Bringe is a “nickname” and not a name from a residence, occupation, or personal name.
