Wade Grimbeek says: The name Grimbeek originated with Adolf Grimbeck who was the first surgeon in Cape Town, South Africa (DEIC). His wife, Alida was Dutch. To fit in with the Dutch rule in the Cape and his wife, he changed the name to Grimbeek. The name Grimbeeck is very rare and there is a specific reason for it, and it only follows one family line in South Africa / Namibia. I will not go into the detail of that right now. The name Grimbeck originated in the parish Grimeton near Varberg, Sweden and there is a seperate section for more detail on this, but it has nothing to do with the brothers Grimm (Germany) or anything like that :)
