gbenga shobowale says: Well it is not so surprising that the name SHOBOWALE has a very large number of "hits" on the cyberspace, www or internet because so many people want to connect and identify with the bearers. This is because each one of the bearers either consciously or unconsciously live up to the true meaning of the name "SHOBOWALE" or may be it's magic in the name! Well the name SHOBOWALE originated from the Yoruba tribes of southwestern part of Nigeria. So what do this name SHOBOWALE mean? Let's break it down. SHO is coined from oSHO which is a God of prosperity, wealth and fertillty. Who is traditionally worshiped by farmer, traders and artesians. BO WA in Yoruba simply mean RETURN LE is coined from iLE, in Yoruba, it simply mean HOME so put together SHOBOWALE means the home-coming of God of Prosperity The name dates back to many dynasties, probably 1200 years BC. The ancestors were parts the AGBOMIREGUNS the original settler in what is called Yoruba (eya-arab meaning lost arabians) land who were parts of a Nubian (omo-nuabi, omo-luabi meaning descendants of NOAH) empire called land of CUSH. Cush was the last born-son of Noah. Cush was the ancestor of the original Africans including Egypt which was just on the north-west of Nuabi and amongst its great kings was Nimrod (called Lamurudu in Yoruba). At that period Africans were highly civilized, rich in knowledge, diverse skills and Egypt had the only university in world. The university had three faculties in Memphis, Heliopolis and Thebes. Nimrod according to records was vast in ancient skills and knowledge. Some script called him a magician. Even the bible mentioned him Great as well. Many years after the death of Nimrod, Alexander the Great led the Greeks to plunder the ancient Egypt carting way so many documented body of knowledge. Thus Greece became the next center of knowledge. The Agbomireguns (those who possess understanding of a codex -IFA) fled from Nubia and migrated southwest of Egypt to settle in what is called Yoruba land with the homestead in Ile-ife, Osun state of Nigeria. SHOBOWALE was a priest who made libration on behalf of the migrants for prosperity, wealth and fertility. And so apart from farming, trading, artesian the descendants of SHOBOWALE were also priests. SHOBOWALE was one many migrants from Iremo-quarters in Ile-Ife as part of the priests that helped in discovering fatherland and extending the Yoruba kingdoms. Hence, the nine Remo kingdoms were established in Ogun state of Nigeria. The priestly occupation apart from trading occupation also made them to spread across the various ethnic groups in Yoruba land. Ironically, the God of prosperity, wealth and fertility called OSHO was actually the same God of Noah worshipped during the great flood. But the true knowledge of great Almighty God was lost during many years of incessant wars as the like many other nations had device their on ways of connecting back to him. The codex or IFA was just a codex of records who documented knowledge could be applied so solve many personal, occupational or communal problems. However, one thing has been common to all the SHOBOWALEs, they are industrious and work very hard to make their marks in history. Hence they fame in the name!
