Beatriz Spena says: Hi! I'm brazillian and I found a great page that talk a little about this name. It said the name first was De Spenis, but was changed with the time, but when i went to Italia, they met both of names liked just one... The famiglia De Spenis started in Napoles, but in Frattamaggiore (NA) had more and better lands, so the first De Spenis borned in Frattamaggiore, in 1553 was Jerome De Spenis, who became a priest and retorned to Napoles, where wrote some chronicles, published by Bartolomeo Capasso. And the name gained a certain religious power, following a Catholic lineage, knowing directly some popes, and the last famous ecclesiastical family was composed by the canonical Angelo Spena, that died approximately in 1900. In Naples, in Corso San Giovanni in Teduccio No. 1024, there is still the old Villa Spena, still owned by the family. I have a little more informations, my email is beatrizspena@outlook.com
