Stephan Manfred Todtenhaupt says: The origin of the name Todtenhaupt is Dodenhof or Dodenhoeft alsö Dodenhoff. Peter Dodenhoff was born 1572 in Hollum/Ameland the Netherlands. He moved to the free city of Danzig ( now Poland ). Peter Dodenhoff was a sailor. He was member of the Danzig City Government. He died in Danzig and is burried there. Some of his relatives stayed in Danzig, some moved to Marienburger Werder and to East Prussia. A little part went to Russia. Some Todtenhaupts were found in Lithuania. They married with von Trottas. After WW 2 all Todtenhaupts and Dodenhoffs had to leave there hometowns.
