Meaning of this name is unknown.

Robert Woore says: Welsh - translation is 'border' - Village near Drayton's Market, Crewe, Cheshire/Shropshire, UK - Junction of A51 and A525. Coordinates - 52°58'16.1"N 2°24'15.3"W
Robert Woore says: WOORE - The origin of the village name is hidden very deep in history and is from the Anglo-Saxon language meaning "a border", perhaps the border between Mercia and Northumbria. This was one of the Heptarehic divisions of the country from the fifth to the ninth century. The village is located in the very northeastern corner of Shropshire,(formerly known as Salop) and only a very short distance from the counties of Staffordshire and Cheshire. Again the reference to "Boundary" applies. Other former spellings are Owre, Oore, Wore, Waure and Wauere.
