Meaning of this name is unknown.

Jon Harald Haug says: Woxen (modern spelling Voksen) is a large and old farm situated in what today is the westernmost part of Oslo. The name's origin is Old Norse vĂ¡gr (bay) and vin (meadow), i.e. the meadow at the bay. The bay it refers to, has to be the eastern part of the lake Bogstadvannet (close to the farm), or maybe the whole lake.
